Retreats

My retreats are unique and intimate, and include a wide range of experiences beyond yoga classes. We immerse ourselves in local culture with the opportunity to support local artisans and healing communities . The locations for my retreats always include time in nature with hiking, forest bathing and outdoor activities and rituals to connect us more deeply to the healing benefits of the elements .

Yoga classes are themed and allow us to have the opportunity to practice “yoga off the mat” throughout our time at the retreat. Workshops meditations, as well as time for deep stillness and quiet are always integrated into my retreats as well.

Because my retreat sizes are small (typically between 8-16 people) it’s possible to form deep bonds with other participants through shared experiences, while also having time alone to be still.

Here’s what people are saying about my retreats

I attended a weeklong yoga retreat with Cat as leader in Guatemala with the stunningly beautiful Lake Atitlan as backdrop. I’d never attended a yoga retreat, and have only started my journey into yoga, Ayurveda, Qigong and meditation to name a few of the practices we explored with her expertise and guidance. Cat is a talented teacher, encouraging all levels to work at their speed and comfort. She made our practice sessions fun, inclusive and sometimes physically and spiritually challenging. By the end of the week I felt relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to continue my practice at home with a wealth of resources to help you following the retreat and has been accessible for questions. I would definitely like to attend another retreat with Cat in the future.

I’ve had the pleasure of hosting Cat at my retreat center in 2022 as well as co-leading a retreat with her in the Azores in 2023. Cat is an authentic teacher, artfully skilled in holding space in a gentle, yet profound way.

Cat has a wide range of yoga and group facilitation skills. Her Qi Gong teaching and creative sequences connect movement to emotional themes (like holding boundaries or heart opening), her Yin yoga weaves in elements (like cultivating flow in the body and connecting to water) and her group discussions and facilitation include thoughtful planning and ways to integrate the learnings post-retreat.

I am grateful to have the chance to work with and learn from Cat, and I am sure we will continue to have future opportunities together!

I joined Cat on a yoga retreat to Guatemala in February. It was beyond my expectations. Cat was so well prepared and introduced us to many subjects beyond yoga including Qi Gong,,/Ayurveda principles, self massage and meditation. If you are lucky enough to join Cat on a retreat or work with her one on one you are lucky indeed.

Cat’s Winter 2024 Yoga Retreat at Lake Atitlan, Guatemala was an absolute dream vacation and wellness experience like no other! The destination, weather and surrounding beauty and elements were the perfect backdrop for a week of learning and growth focused on yoga and ayurvedic health practices. All aspects of the retreat were masterfully planned, and Cat was excellent at communicating all relevant details in advance, both leading up to the trip and throughout. The travel company she partners with, SolSeed Retreats, is awesome as well.

At the retreat center, we practiced yoga every morning with another mindful movement activity in the late afternoon that built upon the earlier session. Cat incorporated meditation, journaling, mind mapping, breathwork, massage and qi gong with yoga and ayurveda, all of which seemed extremely complimentary and was delivered in a way that flowed sequentially and in relation to nature. Cat teaches in a way that allows me to reflect upon and practice the concepts she shares in real time, and I am always impressed at how she differentiates instruction to those of us who have practiced with her for years, while also ensuring that her classes are accessible for newer practitioners.

Our group of 13 lucky women grew closer as the week progressed and Cat connected with us personally and professionally as individuals and as a sangha. My favorite sessions were Wednesday’s Pitta Balancing class and Friday’s Partner Yoga class. I am still reflecting weeks later on some of the fun and funny moments we shared as a collective, and I loved all the energy and excitement we experienced in the yoga shala that overlooked the gorgeous lake and volcano filled landscape.

Cat couldn’t have put together a better schedule, nor could she have picked any better destination to lead us on such a magical physical, emotional and spiritual journey. I recommend Cat’s retreats and her yoga and wellness services both to anyone seeking an introduction to yoga, ayurveda, and/or mindfulness and to more seasoned yogis and students of the universe who want to learn from a compassionate and exceptional teacher and guide. Cat has the whole package and I feel extremely fortunate to call her my teacher and friend.

I attended a retreat co-led by Cat in the Azores. Cat’s guided meditations and lessons in chi gong, “tree” gong, ying yoga, among others were everything I needed. My time with Cat at this retreat was truly life-changing in the best way. She has the ability to gently hold her students in love and safety. Cat gave me the space to work on my connections with the other retreat participants, the environment, and myself and I am so thankful for that gift!

Cat is an amazing colleague and friend. We have facilitated groups together when working at the VA, collaborated on cases and she has been a referral source for individuals in the community. She is highly skilled clinician, with the capacity to develop innovative healing programs to empower and improve one’s self image in effort to live the best quality of life.

- Mary Jo Gibson

Cat Capowski’s presence in a workshop retreat setting brings depth, safety and connection to the participants. Her capacity to intuitively understand the full group dynamic and its individual members is grounded in years of her experience and her deep practice. She organically enables individuals to relax into the experience and helps the full group move forward in the process of experiential education.

When Cat leads movement, both Qi Gong and Yoga, she can meet the variety of skill levels in the group with appropriate instruction, prompts and modifications. Her capacity to both simplify while offering depth of practice is skillful, mature, and impactful.

Cat is a generous and knowledgeable teacher who consistently creates a magical experience for her yoga retreat participants. Highly highly recommend!!❤️

I met Cat on a weekend retreat where she taught the group 10 minutes of Qigong. Her explanation of why were doing the movements and the impact that they had, along with her very easygoing demeanor intrigued me enough to follow up with additional Catalyst Mindfulness activities. Since then, I have joined her Y12 classes at various locations, additional Yoga/Qigong classes, as well as an amazing retreat led by Cat in the Azores. My perspective and life has been shifted for the better through my experiences with Cat, and I highly recommend working with her in any capacity that you can.

Since meeting Cat through her yoga classes, I have done a series of life coaching sessions through Catalyst Mindfulness. It was amazing how the process gave me practical tools for the everyday parts of my life I wanted to change or improve as well as helping me gain some insight into what a longer-term vision might look like for me (and I seriously had no clue). It was so easy and fun, and Cat’s empathy and insight made it such a rewarding and uplifting process. I can’t recommend Catalyst Mindfulness enough… it’s such an integrative and joyful space, and I’m so grateful to have been introduced to everything she offers. Back to yoga… I always look for Cat’s classes (yoga and QiGong) because her innate compassion and beautiful spirit make her practices just extra special. I also got to go on one of her yoga retreats to the Azores, and it was absolutely one of the most unique and incredible experiences I have ever had – already signed up for the next one in Guatemala! Thank you so much Cat – in case you couldn’t tell, you have a lifelong fan!

Cat always makes a point to connect with students from the beginning to end of all her offerings. She establishes an environment of non-judgment and begins her practices by introducing a theme and provides openness and space for students and any physical or emotional challenges they may bring in.

I have had the pleasure of working with Cat over the last 5 years and have experienced her teaching and leadership at a variety of yoga workshops focused on incorporating Yin, Qigong, Ayurveda, Recovery work, writing and other self-care practices at a weeklong retreat dedicated to the chakras and elements, in several Dharma coaching sessions, and at countless yoga classes.

One of Cat’s many gifts is her ability to share interesting and therapeutic concepts in an accessible format that reaches all students and participants, regardless of their previous experience with the topic(s). The material is delivered creatively, in workshops and yoga classes through physical movement and energetic sequences which include asanas and experiential learning by practicing different poses and movements. She offers modifications for those who have more experience and want to deepen their practice, as well as for those who may have injuries or are new to the practice. Community and inclusion are how I would describe the overarching theme and mood in Cat’s classes and offerings. I always leave feeling more connected to myself and to others. I have witnessed how Cat connects with students and opens something within that encourages them to return for subsequent practices and to grow and thrive in community.

Cat is an experienced, kind, extremely knowledgeable and encouraging teacher, coach and leader. I wholeheartedly recommend her classes and services to all who are new and curious and/or to any who want to connect and grow their practice with yoga, mindfulness and all other innovative thoughtful wellness principles she shares.

- Keturah Tallon

I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of attending several of Cat’s classes, retreats, and workshops over the years. She is skillful, thoughtful, mindful and knows how to create a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. I highly recommend her and look forward to attending her offerings in the future.

- Denise Pickering

Cat created a beautifully balanced retreat experience. Just the right depth of leaning combined with practice and connection with nature. Truly magical.

- Genie

I would recommend any all of Cat’s practices and teachings to everyone. She has such a beautiful and special way of holding space and allowing us to step gently into any experience.

Cat has just the right mix – she is a gentle insightful group leader. She has an excellent sense of humor and honors what we want as individuals.

- Liz Hitt

Cat has the remarkable blend of a wide range of knowledge in different yet aligned areas, a clear way of conveying and leading and most important, a sensitivity towards the group and individual needs that makes fortunate participants to feel safe and able immerse in the learning experience. I think this is possible because of Cat’s wider range of experience including her wide range of experiences and study as a clinical work as social worker as well as her commitment to training and studying a broad range of ancient knowledge sources and current-day practices which she integrates and teaches beautifully. Beyond all the knowledge, Cat’s life experience, intuitive capacities, intelligence and gentleness makes learning with her a valuable gift to her students and to the world.

Wonderful yoga retreat with comprehensive overview of Ayurveda, meditation, and other mindfulness practices. Cat knows the best people! Loved the group that attended! Absolutely gorgeous location on Lake Atitlan!

Cat provided us with a beautiful and safe space to let go of our daily worries and sink deep into the natural beauty around us and the deep peace within us. It was a magical week, and Cat put so much incredible work into providing us with inspiring and informative sessions with practical tools to take home with us. Amazing!

- Mary

Everything was just magical. It was such a special experience in a beautiful place. On top of everything Cat offered, there was a great balance of fun activities/experiences and downtime.

- Kelly

The people were amazing! Cat has a broad range of knowledge which she generously shared with us.

The retreat had every element that one could wish or in a retreat. Exceptional location and venue, connection to nature-based and inspiring cultural experience, deep sophisticated learning of skills and knowledge in yoga, Ayurvedic medicine and breath work, remarkable gathering of women and most important a most gifted, humble, intuitive and exceptional teacher and leader.

Cat created a beautiful and safe space during her retreat on setting healthy boundaries.
I was able to take away practical tools to utilize when I got home to help me practice setting boundaries, which allowed me to have more time for self-care and a  healthier  relationship with my husband and kids. It was the perfect balance of her teaching and us being able to interact with other retreat  members and practice what we learned in a group setting. The yoga was also great!
- Liza H

I learned so much at Cat’s retreat about healthy boundaries. I’ve been able to use a lot of what she taught both at home with family as well as at work. She shared so many wonderful resources and supported our whole group in a way that felt safe . It was really interesting how she also included body-based practices like Qi Gong and Yoga so we could feel what it was like in our bodies to have healthy boundaries. I’ve never done anything like that before and I really loved it.
