Yoga 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR)

We connect the dots between the somatic approach of the ancient wisdom of yoga and the cognitive approach of recovery models. A gentle yoga class with a recovery theme followed by an “All A’s welcome” recovery meeting. Family and friends of people who are struggling with addiction are welcome as well. This is a donation-based class and a wonderful way to connect with community.

Cat Lynch Capowski (LCSW , RYT 500 hr) has practiced and taught yoga, breath work and qigong for many years since discovering her own benefits such as feeling emotions in her body, and the ability to better regulate her nervous system.  As a clinical social worker and Ayurvedic Mental Health & Wellness Coach, Cat combines these ancient mind-body practices to facilitate emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing in her clients in person near Albany as well as through Zoom.

Kelly Clady-Giramma (LAc., Herbalist, Chronic Pain Coach) earned her Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2004 in San Francisco, then did 3 additional years of advanced study in China.  Kelly weaves acupuncture, EFT tapping, herbal medicine, and qigong into her patient treatments.  In 2021 Kelly became a health coach in an evidence-based  process called  “pain reprocessing” to address the unrecognized emotional & mental root causes of many chronic pain & other health conditions.  Kelly coaches via Zoom, has her own acupuncutre private practice in West Stockbridge & also works at Pittsfield Community Acupuncture.

Qi Gong Classes

Qi means energy and Gong means cultivation. We will release energy that no longer serves us and invite in healing and protective Qi to support our immunity and emotional regulation, connecting to the elements of nature to support our well-being. Movements will be gentle and can be done standing or seated.
September 15 @ 4-5pm Jai Yoga

Join Cat and Lauren for a truly unique , grounding and balancing practice. They will be combining Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) healing with gentle Qi gong movement, followed by a Yin yoga practice and ending with a guided Yoga Nidra and placement of acupuncture needles in ear points to stimulate the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS)to increase your ability to rest and heal and to reduce the stress response in your body.
Within TCM, Autumn is the season of dryness, contraction and moving inward, and it
corresponds to the lungs and large intestine. During this season, our lungs are more susceptible
to respiratory issues and they need more support to weather this seasonal change.

The large intestine is associated with “letting go” and, just as trees shed their old leaves, we
may find ourselves needing to let go of things that no longer serve us, despite their former
utility. Emotionally, the season is associated with sadness and grief and, as the season shifts, we
might find ourselves feeling these feelings more readily and forcefully.

This workshop will be 2 hours and will begin with a Qi gong practice focused on gentle movements to
help improve vagal tone and promote relaxation. Our Qi gong movements will be targeted to balance
the meridian energy lines associated with the lung and large intestine and will focus in increasing
protective Qi and immunity and creating more emotional balance.

The yin yoga portion will continue this focus with poses that help to bring balance to the lungs and
large intestine meridian lines as we practice breathing and letting go during our slow and gentle, floor based yoga.

Lauren will place needles in your ears during our final long savasana and guided Yoga Nidra portion of
class. In addition to being a microsystem of the entire body, The ear has a rich supply of nerve endings and is connected to the central nervous system. Stimulation of specific points on the ear is believed to activate nerve pathways that communicate with the brain and various organs.
